The Cleveland Cavaliers swept the Atlanta Hawks last night, making it their second sweep of the playoffs. LeBron will now return to his fortress to work on his bowling game for the next week as the Celtics and Magic continue to kick the crap out of each other. This now opens up the mildly interesting debate of who would the Cavs rather play? I said “mildly interesting,” because the answer is pretty obvious… the Celtics.
The Magic are the only team that could really kick the crap out of us. Granted the first time was early in the season and the last time was in the middle of an inhuman winning streak, and the Cavs were due to the lose, but it’s still not fun to see. The Celtics are hurt and they beat us last year. Getting revenge is always nice, much like after the Pistons took care of the Cavs a few years ago, we came back to beat them two years ago and swept them this year.
Personally, I don’t really care who the Cavs play. In order to win a championship, one must beat the best. If championships were won by beating the crap out of the bottom of a league, then give the Browns the Vince Lombardy trophy for their 10-6 effort two years ago. Hell, give me a trophy, if that’s the case! I can beat up people smaller and weaker than me.
Fortunately (or unfortunately if you’re the d-bag that thinks he’s badass for beating up people smaller than him), that’s not the way it works. The Cavs will take on the best of the best and will have to show why they deserve to be the team to end our poor city’s miserable streak of 45 years without a championship.
For those of you wondering “Cleveland’s won a championship?” it was the Browns in 1964. Yes, the Browns weren’t a powder puff team once upon a time.
